The Bench  
They seek her out for  
reasons unknown. She sits there simple a bit  
weathered, a tad worn. Although her structure seems weak, 
with our strength she holds on. It's the civic pride she 
exhibits and reputation that are known. Still, most pass 
her by with the simplest of thought, but what a great 
statement she makes for a community of all. She weathers 
our storms, as day breaks they shall come, a traveler may 
to rest the weary of mind. Shoppers may stop to rejoice in 
their find. The lost seek her out for a momentary shelter 
in time, but to all she has given without reason or rhyme, 
a brief monument of comfort for a  
community to find. Her reason for being is taken for 
granted you see, there's been so many before her, I'm sure 
there must always be? It's our help she seeks out, 
reputations to uphold, her replacement is needed for 
community pride her goal. She relinquishes her throne with 
the biggest of smile , her mission was successful, and to 
what a grand feat , her service to Downtown helped to keep 
a Community Complete.

The ‘seats’ of Corsicana 
The R.O.S.E. Association has obtained some outside benches 
for the downtown area.  If you would be interested in 
purchasing one "IN MEMORY OF" or "DONATED BY", you can do 
this for $100.00. There will be a plate attached to the 
bench with your inscription on it. If you want to see one 
go by First Finance and Furniture. As soon as they come in 
we will have some there to view. Place your orders in a 
hurry, they are in short supply! We are planning a 
"Downtown Bench Party" in June. Date and time to be 
announced shortly.

A purple tea sponsored by the American Cancer Society will 
be held at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 
1201 E. 10th Ave. You are invited to attend (especially 
women over 40). You will be inspired and motivated at the 
purple tea. A survivor will tell of her triumph over

June 9th  
City of Corsicana and Navarro County Clean Up Day will be 
held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The City of Corsicana regional 
landfill on Jester Road, off State Highway 31, will be open 
for free disposal. Certain regulations are required. Loads 
must be tarped.

Warehouse Living Arts Center will present William Inge's 
classic story of love and romance, BUS STOP. Evening shows 
at 7:30 pm. The matinee on June 17 will be at 2:00pm. Call

6th Avenue in downtown Corsicana across from the post

June 21st- John Conlee in Concert  
The City of Corsicana Parks and Recreation Department and 
the Navarro Council of the Arts present John Conlee in 
Concert Thursday June 21st 7:30 pm. This is a free concert, 
no tickets, first come first serve.

July 16 
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. for The Coasters, The 
Platters and The Drifters concert to be held at 5 p.m. and 
8 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Palace Theatre, 112 W. Sixth Ave. 
Remaining tickets to these concerts are $55, $50 and $40.

concert to be held at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the
